5.1.2 Image Command Examples - Interrogation

The D, E, and IMGPROBE commands can be used to interrogate a displayed image. For more examples of using these commands, see the Graphics and the Cursor section.

  1. Show the image on frame 4.

    This image was loaded with 32N 130W at the center of the image.

  2. Position the cursor in the center of the image and run the IMGPROBE command.

    The PC (Position Cursor) with the C option positions the cursor at the center of the screen. The IMGPROBE command with no options will list the digital values and other appropriate units of the image pixel under the cursor's center. The output will look something like this:

IMGPROBE: Done
    The D command is a shortcut to running IMGPROBE without any options. Since D is a single letter command, you can use Alt D to invoke it.

  3. The E command will list out the earth coordinates at the cursor center.

    This entry will print out the following:

     Frame    Latitude    Longitude    Tvline    Tvelem    Line    Elem    
     4    31:57:06    129:58:37      240       320     4709   16101

    Note that the cursor is located pretty close to 32N 130W. The difference is related to the resolution of the image.

  4. Move the cursor around the screen and use the D and E commands to list out values.
